5-Step Guide to Financial Aid
Mid-America Christian University believes that any person with academic ability and motivation to learn should not be denied an education because of financial need. Therefore, the University attempts to help students and their families meet the cost of higher education through a combination of grants, scholarships, loans, employment opportunities, and other sources of aid. The Student Financial Aid Office administers programs in accordance with federal, state, and private agency guidelines as well as funds provided by the University. Funding may be based on financial need or may be based on academic, athletic, or other talent merit.
Finally, we recognize that a college education is a significant investment; an investment of money, certainly, but also of trust. The Student Financial Aid Office stands ready to assist in helping you identify and apply for financial aid to make a MACU education affordable.

Applying for Federal Financial Aid
Federal regulations require students to apply for financial aid every year you are enrolled as a student at any college or university. This four step guide will help you apply for aid at Mid-America Christian University.
Get a FSA User ID
Apply for a U.S. Department of Education FSA User ID before filing your FAFSA On The Web.
If parent information is required on the FAFSA, your parents must also apply for FSA User ID.
A FSA User ID will allow you to sign your FAFSA application electronically.
Do not share your FSA User ID with anyone!

All federal grants, loans, and federal work study program funds are awarded based on the information you provide on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Instructions below will guide you through the application process. Make sure that you list MACU under the Information Release section. MACU's college (school) code is 006942. In order to receive federal financial aid, you must complete the FAFSA and submit it for processing. Complete the FAFSA Web Application
Step by step instructions are provided on the FAFSA website along with online help.
All FAFSA On The Web applicants, and the parents of dependent applicants, who indicate that they have filed their federal tax returns prior to completing their FAFSA and who are otherwise eligible will be directed to use the FAFSA-IRS Data Retrieval process to complete their FAFSA more easily and accurately.

Once your FAFSA application is processed, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) in approximately 3-5 days (if you provide an e-mail address).
If your SAR is marked for verification by the Department of Education, you will be asked to submit additional documents to the Student Financial Aid Office. You will receive information from the Student Financial Aid Office detailing the additional required documents.
Once verification is completed, an Award Letter detailing your financial assistance will be sent to you. Follow the instructions to accept, reduce or decline any awards, and complete any required loan documents online.
Register with the U.S. Selective Service System
Male citizens of the U.S. and male immigrant aliens 18 through 25 years old must be registered with the U.S. Selective Service System to be eligible for federal student loans and grants. Men can register at any post office or online.

Obtaining a Student Loan
MACU participates with the Federal Direct Student Loan program and if you are planning to obtain a loan to cover the cost of education, there two steps that you must complete in order to do so:
Entrance Counseling
- You will have to "Log In" using your FSA ID.
- After you have logged in, click the link to 'Complete Entrance Counseling.'
- Select Mid-America Christian University in the 'School and Loan Information' section.
- You will be required to complete a quiz at the end of section.
- Follow the instructions and submit.
- Be sure to print a copy and/or confirmation of the Entrance Counseling for your records
Master Promissory Note (MPN)
- Borrowers must complete the Master Promissory Note (MPN) (unless you have previously borrowed a Federal Direct Loan and have a current MPN on file)
- You will have to "Sign In" using your social security number, last name, date of birth, and FAFSA Pin.
- After you have signed in, click the link to 'Complete Master Promissory Note.'
- Select Subsidized/Unsubsidized
- Follow instructions and submit
- Once all steps are complete, PRINT your MPN for your records.
