MACU Invites OKC Community to Spring Faculty Recital

OKLAHOMA CITY – Mid-America Christian University invites the community to attend the spring faculty recital at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, on the university campus in south Oklahoma City.

The recital will feature solo voice, solo clarinet and piano selections as performed by directors and professors of the MACU School of Music. With pieces from Debussy, Rabaud, Purcell, Hoiby and Barber, the program promises something for everyone with a love of music!

The night’s performers include Dr. Christian Morren, DaLeesa Wyatt and Dillan Francis.

As chair of MACU’s School of Music, Dr. Christian Morren is an accomplished musician with a passion for teaching. She has performed as a soprano soloist with the Wyoming Symphony, Oklahoma City Philharmonic, Utah Festival Opera Company and more. While at the University of Oklahoma, she received multiple honors, including the Dame Eva Turner award for excellence in singing and the prestigious Gail Boyd de Stwolinski Award.

Music history, theory and applied piano professor DaLeesa Wyatt serves actively as MACU’s pianist and accompanist at a variety of university events. She has worked on many productions in the Oklahoma City metro area, including The Secret Garden, Into the Woods, Oklahoma! and The Last Five Years.

Dillan Francis, a resourceful and creative leader, built the MACU jazz and pep band program from its humble single-digit beginnings to an ensemble with full instrumentation. As a pit musician, Francis’ versatility within the woodwinds makes him a sought-after musician in the Oklahoma City music theater scene. He is involved in several local theaters, including Sooner Theater and Pollard Theater, and features in their productions every season.

Admission to the spring faculty recital is free.
