MACU Named Military Friendly School for Eighth Consecutive Year
February 3rd, 2019
OKLAHOMA CITY– For the eighth consecutive year, Mid-America Christian University has been named a Military Friendly School for exceeding standards on academics, admissions, culture, financial aid, graduation and support for military members, veterans and their dependents.
“At MACU, we recognize the importance and value veterans bring to the classroom and community,” said university advisor Stephanie Davidson. “Their service experience and leadership skills are invaluable and lend a unique perspective that can enhance the learning experience for all students.”
She said MACU strives to develop and expand the university’s practices to provide quality education for military students and their families.
“We are 100 percent committed to serving all military branches,” Davidson said.
Military Friendly is a designation that is given to companies and institutes of higher education who express a high level of commitment, effort and success in creating sustainable and meaningful opportunities for the military community.
MACU was first awarded the designation in 2011.
The Military Friendly website said that “MACU ensures the educational benefits earned by our nation’s military, veterans and dependents are provided in a timely manner, and are properly accounted for.”
The website went on to praise MACU’s staff, which includes personnel with former military and higher education experience.
“The military population has a unique background, and MACU ensures that each student in this population has a point of contact that can speak their language, understand their needs and be an advocate when needed,” the website said. “MACU provides effective stewardship of each student’s educational benefits by ensuring all involved parties have clear, relevant and accessible benefit information.”
MACU provides a 15 percent tuition discount for active duty military members and veterans. For more information about MACU’s programs and benefits for active duty and veteran military members, click here.
