January 10th, 2018
OKLAHOMA CITY– As a part of Mid-America Christian University’s yearly tradition to honor the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a special chapel ceremony, U.S. Senator James Lankford (R-OK) will speak during services at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, in the JASCO Chapel on the MACU campus in south Oklahoma City.
According to his website, Lankford is “committed to the protection of the future for Oklahoma families, the transparency and efficiency of the federal government and the ability of our nation to remain the world leader. He believes that empowering families, individuals, communities and private enterprise will grow our economy and protect our values.”
Lankford was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2014 after serving four years in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Personal faith, local decision-making and opportunity for every person, regardless of their background, are among Lankford’s platforms. Before his time in Congress, Lankford served as Director of Student Ministry at the Baptist Convention of Oklahoma. He also oversaw the Falls Creek Youth Camp, where more than 51,000 young men and women attend every summer.
Lankford is a supporter of MACU and its students, and served as the university’s commencement speaker in 2014.
MACU chapel services are open to the public and can be viewed live at www.macu.edu/watch. Archives are available for those who cannot attend or watch at the time of the sermon.
