MACU Partners with Earlywine YMCA for Basketball Camp
May 8th, 2017
OKLAHOMA CITY– In continuing the great partnership between Mid-America Christian University and the Earlywine Park YMCA, MACU men's basketball head coach Josh Gamblin and former MACU men's basketball student-athlete Trey Slate are teaming up to host a free, co-ed basketball camp May 20 at the Earlywine Park YMCA in south Oklahoma City.
The camp is open to boys and girls who are signed up for the Y's summer basketball teams.
Camp sessions will be divided throughout the day based on age: 5-7 from 9 to 10 a.m., 8-10 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 11-14 from 11 a.m. to noon.
Gamblin has made quite an impact for the Evangels in his two seasons at the helm, leading MACU to its first ever NAIA National Championship in 2016 while amassing an overall record of 44-25.
A former trainer of Los Angeles Clippers' power forward Blake Griffin, Gamblin also has experience as the Clippers' video coordinator in the 2011-12 season under then-head coach Vinny Del Negro.
Slate competed at the University of Oklahoma before arriving at MACU and has helped train esteemed athletes such as Boston Celtics guard Avery Bradley and Sacramento Kings guard Buddy Hield.
This season, Slate nailed 45 percent (27-of-60) of his three-point attempts.
Limited space for the camp is available. To register, please contact the Earlywine Park YMCA at 405-378-0420.
